CVS Adds More Coronavirus Vaccination Sites In New York

There are now three more locations in the Hudson Valley and four on Long Island.

EDITOR'S NOTE: New York is now vaccinating people age 30 and older, and people age 16 and up will be eligible as of April 6.

NEW YORK — CVS Pharmacy continues adding locations where New York residents can get their coronavirus inoculation, as New York now allows pharmacies to vaccinate New Yorkers with comorbidities and people 50 and older.

There are 11 new sites, including four on Long Island and three in the Hudson Valley. That brings the total to 185 CVS locations throughout the state, up from 174 just a week ago.

Availability of appointments changes frequently, so it's best to keep checking.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo said Tuesday that 137,814 doses have been administered across New York's distribution network in the last 24 hours, and more than 1 million doses have been administered over the past seven days.

He emphasized the state's large population of eligible individuals still far exceeds the supply coming from the federal government. Due to limited supply, New Yorkers are encouraged to remain patient and are advised not to show up at vaccination sites without an appointment.

The expanded eligibility for the shots CVS is providing now includes people with underlying conditions and people age 50 and up.

Here are the eligibility requirements for CVS pharmacies in New York:

  • Must live in New York
  • Teachers K-12, Daycare and preschool workers, and staff
  • People age 50+
  • Age 16+ with a condition that increases the risk of severe illness from COVID-19
  • New York City is limited to people who live in NYC and are age 60+ or a teacher K-12, daycare, preschool worker or staff, age 16+ with a condition that increases the risk of severe illness from COVID-19
