Fatal Hit-And-Run In Sullivan County
A Bloomingburg man was charged with DWI and two felonies, including leaving the scene of an accident.
MAMAKATING, NY — A Sullivan County woman was struck and killed by a car that sped away from the scene.
The New York State Police said Tamika Zambrano, 39, of Bloomingburg, was walking on the north shoulder of Mamakating Road with the flow of traffic around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.
A witness traveling west said they saw a red SUV strike Zambrano and then speed off toward Wurtsboro, police said.

A nurse who was in the area immediately rendered first aid as 911 was called.
Zambrano was taken by ambulance to Garnet Medical Center where she died of her injuries.

Troopers and investigators accused Raymond M. Cammerino, 49, of Bloomingburg, of striking the woman with his car.
The ongoing investigation found he was driving a red 2006 GMC Envoy when he struck Zambrano and fled the scene, police said.
Cammerino was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and second-degree vehicular manslaughter, felonies.
Police said he was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.16 percent and was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated.
Cammerino was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of bail.
CORRECTION: The New York State Police released an update that said the hit-and-run occurred around 6:20 p.m., not 8:30 p.m. The update also said that Zambrano was walking with the traffic, not against the traffic. The article has been changed with the updated information.
