The sheriff's office said the likely cause was the failure to yield right of way.

As he approached Violet Hill Road, a 2009 Ford Ranger pickup truck, being driven north by Jon H. Nansen, 75, of Clinton Corners, made a left-hand turn onto Violet Hill in front of the motorcycle.
Authorities said the motorcycle struck the pickup and Villarreal was ejected.

Both men were taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where Villarreal was pronounced dead.
The crash is still under investigation by the sheriff's office Crash Investigation Unit and Detective Bureau.
However, at this time, the primary factor appears to be a failure to yield right of way by Nansen.
The sheriff's office asks that anyone who may have been in the area and witnessed either all or part of the crash is asked to call Detective Wilber at 845-486-3826 or email him.
