Former Corrections Officer Receives Sentence For Killing Ex-Wife

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A former corrections officer who was convicted of killing his ex-wife received his sentence Monday in Dutchess County Court.

Timothy Alexander, who was a Dutchess County corrections sergeant, was sentenced to 25 years to life, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

Anthony DeFasio, Alexander's lawyer, said there are plans to appeal the sentence.

Alexander was found guilty by a jury April 29 of second-degree murder.

His ex-wife, Terrie DeGelormo, 34, was stabbed to death Nov. 15, 2018, at a home in the vicinity of All Angels Hill Road in Wappinger.

Police said Alexander fled from the scene before law enforcement arrived. he was arrested following an investigation.

Alexander and DeGelormo were married in 2008, but were divorced in 2017.

DeGelormo graduated in 2002 from Beacon High School and received her bachelor's degree from SUNY New Paltz.

She worked at Dutchess Community College in accounts payable.
