Former County Legislator Price Dies At 88

She served on the Fishkill Town Board before being appointed to the Dutchess County Legislature.

FISHKILL, NY — A former Dutchess County legislator has died. Camile Valentino Price served in the legislature from 1990 until she retired in 2007. She died July 7 at the age of 88.

County Executive Marcus Molinaro said he was saddened to hear of Price’s passing.

“I had the pleasure of working with her during my time in the county legislature,” he said. “She was knowledgable and well-informed, and as a new county legislator in 1999, I was grateful for her wisdom and tutelage.”

Molinaro said Price demonstrated that there were no limits to what an individual could achieve and inspired others to pursue their passions, no matter what.

“We are grateful her passion for the community led her to public service,” he said. “We extend our thoughts and prayers to her family and loved ones.”

Born in Beacon, Price was a life-long area resident.

She opened a food store in 1952 in Fishkill and began working at Fishkill Town Hall in 1971, when then-supervisor Herbert Muller asked her to be his bookkeeper.

Price was subsequently appointed budget director and deputy supervisor in 1972.

While serving on the Fishkill Town Board, she was appointed to the legislature in 1990.

Price is survived by her daughter Judy, son Joseph, grandson David and brothers Ralph and Tom.

Visiting hours will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 at the McHoul Funeral Home, 1089 Main St. in Fishkill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St. in Fishkill, followed by interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation, Inc.
