Former Millbrook Woman Killed In CO Grocery Shooting

Suzanne Fountain, 59, graduated from Millbrook High School, but moved out of the area years ago.

MILLBROOK, NY — A graduate of Millbrook High School was one of the 10 people killed Monday when a gunman began firing weapons in a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket.

Suzanne Fountain, 59, moved from Dutchess County decades ago, though her family remains in the area, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

She loved horses and riding and trained as an actor at the Circle in the Square Theater in Manhattan.

Ten people, including Fountain, were killed when, police said, Ahmad Alissa, 21, opened fire in a crowded King Soopers grocery store. The victims, which included a police officer, ranged in age from 20 to 65.

Fountain met her partner, Phi Bernier, when they were in "The Glass Menagerie" there about three decades ago, The Citizen reported.

She was the manager of a nonprofit live music venue in Boulder up until the pandemic.

Fountain was also a health-care industry financial counselor who well known around Boulder for enrolling hundreds of clients in Medicare, The Denver Post said.

She is survived by a son.
