Hazardous Weather Through New Year's In Hudson Valley

The classic wintry mix is headed to the region, the National Weather Service said in an advisory.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Two chances for snow will bracket the turn of the year in the Hudson Valley.

A light wintry mix of snow and sleet is possible late Wednesday afternoon into night in Dutchess and Ulster counties, with freezing rain possible for Orange and Putnam counties, the National Weather Service predicts.

Then a storm system will bring the classic combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain to the Hudson region late Friday through Saturday morning.

A light accumulation of snow and ice is possible for Dutchess and Ulster counties. In Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, the New Year's Day storm is expected to be somewhat limited — to rain, freezing rain and sleet.

"For now, it appears that Friday evening will see the potential of some icing and hazardous travelconditions," said the folks at Hudson Valley Weather.
