Howland Library Schedules Election and Budget Vote

Vote set for Howland Library

The Howland Public Library will hold an election for its Board of Trustees and vote on the library budget on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from noon to 8 p.m.

The vote will take place at the library at 313 Main Street in Beacon. Public library trustees are elected officials who hold the library in trust for the Beacon City School District.

There are four candidates running for three vacancies on the Board of Trustees, with two five-year terms and one one-year term. The two candidates with highest number of votes will serve five-year terms.

The candidates are Jan Dolan, Lillian Glauda, Rajene Hardeman, and Randy Lashua.

The library has proposed a budget of $1,055,590. Based on a home assessed at $300,000, the proposed 2016-17 budget will increase library tax by $2.57 to $131.28 a year. The library has more information on its proposed budget at its website.
