Hudson Valley Bar Event Yields 6 Positive Coronavirus Cases

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — An event at a Sullivan County bar in Lake Huntington has resulted in at least six new coronavirus positive infections since the middle of November.

Sullivan County Public Health Services determined that the person, who subsequently tested positive for the virus, attended the gathering at The Nutshell during his or her infectious period.

The bar is at 6692 Route 52 in Lake Huntington.

The county health services advises anyone who was at the bar the evening of Nov. 14 into the morning of Nov. 15 may have been exposed.

Public Health Director Nancy McGraw said reports indicated few if any attendees were wearing masks at the event.

"If someone thinks they have been exposed and develops symptoms, they should self-quarantine for 14 days and call their healthcare provider if symptoms develop, or call Sullivan County Publix Health Services at 845-292-5910," she said.

The state Department of Health was told by The Nutshell's owner that the business is now closed and will remain so through at least the end of the year.

Contact tracing is ongoing, the county said. Anyone who tests positive will be required to go into isolation, and as close contacts are identified, they are encouraged to seek a test and ordered into mandatory quarantine. For an updated list of testing locations, visit the Sullivan County website.
