HV Forecast: Hazardous Outlook Issued For Saturday, Monday

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The heat and humidity are going to climb through Sunday and into the start of the work week, the National Weather Service predicted.

Plus, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Dutchess and Ulster counties:

A few stronger thunderstorms are possible this afternoon into this evening. The Storm Prediction Center indicates a marginal risk of severe weather for our area. Some thunderstorms could contain damaging winds and hail.

Heat indices Monday afternoon may reach the mid 90s in some areas and if confidence increases, Heat Advisories may be needed.

Another round of thunderstorms is possible late Monday into Monday night. Some of these storms could contain strong winds, very heavy rain and hail. The Storm Prediction Center has our region in a marginal to slight risk for severe thunderstorms.

• Saturday night - Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then a chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the lower 60s. West winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Sunday - Partly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
• Sunday Night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows in the upper 60s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Monday - Partly sunny. Humid with highs in the upper 80s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon. Heat index values in the mid 90s.
• Monday Night - Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. Lows in the upper 60s. Chance of rain 50 percent.
• Tuesday - Showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. Chance of rain 70 percent.
• Tuesday Night - Mostly cloudy with showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then partly cloudy after midnight. Cooler with lows in the lower 50s. Chance of rain 70 percent.
