Looking for Something to Do in the Mid Hudson Valley Area?

Here are some events on tap for the weekend.

The weather will be clear but chilly for this Saturday and Sunday. The very last of the fall leaves should still be hanging on at least a few branches. It is a good weekend for church fairs and theater. Enjoy the weekend with some of these activities:

Train and Hobby Show: The Hudson Valley Railroad Society will hold its Annual Train and hobby Show at the mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

FDR Library Hours: The FDR Presidential Library and Museum is on winter hours now. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission to the library and museum and to the home of Franklin D. Harvest Bazaar and Christmas Fair: The St. Andrew’s Church Harvest Bazaar and Christmas Fair is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature many vendors selling items to help you get a jump on your Christmas gift list. The Festival will also feature a sale of wonderful, quality handmade items ranging from knitted and crocheted hats to items made to hand-crafted jewelry and a bake sale. Admission is free. One Act Plays: The Carmel High School Drama Club is presenting “The Funny Side of Fate: A Showcase of One Act Plays” on Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, at 2 p.m. The show is nine hilarious one-act plays by Mark Harvey Levine. Each of the 10-minute plays feature entertaining stories and unbelievable situations. Performances will be at Casey Hall. The high school is at 30 Fair Street in Carmel. Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night: The Cultural Arts Coalition is presenting “Twelfth Night” on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Shakespearean comedy involves shipwrecks, disguises, and romance. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Studio Around the Corner at 67 Main Street, Suite 101, in Brewster. Peter and the Starcatcher: The Spring Street Arts Center at St John’s in South Salem will present an Infinity Repertory Theatre Company production of the Broadway hit “Peter and the Starcatcher” at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Performances will also be held on Nov. 18th and 19th at 8:00 p.m., The play is a wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s best-selling novels and is a continuation of the story of Peter Pan. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair, and the bonds of friendship, duty and love. Holiday Craft Show: The Hudson Crafts Collective will present its annual show of quality handcrafted items on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. This year's offerings will include jewelry; fiber art including hand felting; handcrafted fabric bags and accessories; Japanese paper art, and handmade dolls by local artisans. The show will be at Umami Café, 325 St. Riverside Avenue in Croton-on-Hudson.

Nyack Photos in Nyack: An exhibition of photography by Sally Savage will be open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. This exhibit calls attention to the fact that Savage, now a Nyack resident, has in fact also been focusing her camera on Nyack people, events, and scenes for many years. The exhibit is at the historical Society of the Nyacks at 50 Piermont Ave.

String Quartet in Sleepy Hollow: The Takács Quartet will perform at Sleepy Hollow High School on Saturday at 8 p.m. The quartet is being presented by Friends of Music and they will perform an all-Beethoven program, including the Quartet in C-Sharp minor. Victorian Tea: The Bricktown Inn Bed & Breakfast will hold a Victorian Tea at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Reservations are required. $27 per person. The inn is at 112 Hudson Ave. in Haverstraw. Call 845.429.8447 for more information.
