Lyft Expected To Come To Ulster County

From The Office of the Ulster County Executive: On Wednesday, County Executive Mike Hein welcomed representatives from Lyft to Ulster County, meeting with them to discuss opportunities for partnerships with government services. Lyft and other services are currently gauging interest in areas across upstate New York ahead of ridesharing’s expansion upstate this summer.

“Ridesharing is an essential part of a growing modern economy,” said County Executive Mike Hein. “I was thrilled to meet with representatives from Lyft and we firmly believe that this will not only benefit and help grow our expanding tourism economy, but also become pivotal in ensuring safe and reliable transportation across Ulster County - which is as geographically large as Rhode Island - as well as the greater Hudson Valley.”

“At Lyft we’re proud that ridesharing is a service that can positively impact communities, both creating jobs and improving access to safe rides, and we are excited to be part of its expansion to upstate New York,” said Funsho Owolabi, Public Policy Manager at Lyft. “I want to thank the County Executive for his enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring that this modern amenity is available to the residents and visitors of Ulster County.”

The expansion of ridesharing to Upstate New York is part of the 2017-2018 New York State Budget that was signed by Governor Cuomo. Ridesharing is expected to be available ahead of the July 4th holiday weekend.
