“Judy Kennedy and I shared a love for the City of Newburgh,” he said, “and I saw her in action working every day to make Newburgh the city that its wonderful people deserve.”
Maloney said that her focus and tenacity held the city together during a financial crisis and allowed it to come out stronger on the other side.
“Judy’s legacy, and the best way we can remember her, is to finish her work of making Newburgh an even better place to live, work and raise a family,” he said. “As she said in her final statement to the city, we have to ‘rise together’ if we’re going to achieve that goal.”
Kennedy asked that people consider donating live flowers that can be replanted to beautify the city or to send donations to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, Newburgh Ministries and ShotSpotter of the Newburgh Police Department.
