New Windsor Rollover Crash Claims 1 Life
The crash occurred on the Thruway between the Harriman and Newburgh exits.
NEW WINDSOR, NY — A rollover accident in the town of New Windsor resulted in the death of a New York City man.
The New York State Police said the crash happened around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday on I-87 northbound between the Harriman and Newburgh exits and involved a box truck.
Authorities said the preliminary investigation found the 2004 Chevrolet box truck was traveling north when the driver exited the left shoulder and struck a delineator post in the median.

The truck then crossed back over both northbound lanes and left the roadway on the right shoulder, police said. The truck struck the guide rail before it turned over onto its roof.
Domingo Ramirez Vargas, 35, of the Bronx, was the operator and sole occupant of the truck.

He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Orange County Coroner.
The right lane was closed for several hours for roadway cleanup and removal of the truck.
Troopers out of SP Newburgh were assisted by Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
