NJ Man Accused Of Having Illegal Drugs, Loaded Handgun
He was charged with four felonies, police said.
PLATTEKILL, NY — A New Jersey man was accused of having illegal drugs and a loaded handgun while traveling on the Thruway.
The New York State Police said, around 11:10 p.m. Friday, troopers stopped a car on Interstate 87 in the town of Plattekill for a vehicle and traffic violation.
While speaking with the driver, police established probable cause to search the car.

During the search, troopers said they found a loaded Taurus Millennium 9mm handgun. It had one live round in the chamber, police said.
The driver, Bryant L. King, 27, of Plainfield, New Jersey, was found to be in possession of about 29.5 grams of oxycodone and 67.3 grams of MCMA, police said.

He was taken into custody and processed at the Newburgh barracks where he was charged with:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, a felony
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, loaded firearm, a felony
King was arraigned in the Town of Plattekill Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
