NY AG, Poughkeepsie Police To Hold Gun Buy-Back Event
Gift cards are being offered for firearms, and you can possibly get an iPad, too.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — State Attorney General Letitia James and the Poughkeepsie City Police Department want to buy your guns.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, there will be a Community Gun Buy-Back at Beulah Baptist Church, 92 Catharine St. in Poughkeepsie.
According to organizers, they are offering:

- $25 for non-working or antique firearms
- $75 for rifles and shotguns
- $150 for handguns
- $250 for assault rifles
Payment will be made by prepaid gift card at the site. You can also receive an iPad along with the gift card for operable handguns and assault rifles (only one iPad per person, subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis).
Police said guns must be unloaded and placed in a plastic or paper bag or a box.

To transport a gun, it must be unloaded and in the trunk in a plastic or paper bag or box.
No identification is necessary to turn in a firearm, because organizers said this is an amnesty program. No questions will be asked of the person dropping off the firearm.
Licensed gun dealers and active or retired law enforcement officers are not eligible for the buy-back program.
