NYC Man Accused Of Possessing Illegal Drugs

Troopers initially stopped the man for a traffic violation on the Taconic State Parkway.

GALLATIN, NY — A New York City man was accused of having cocaine and esctasy during a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway.

The New York State Police said Michael S. Owens, 36, of the Bronx, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felonies.

Police said, around 4:50 p.m. Jan. 25, troopers conducted a traffic stop of a 2008 Mercury Mariner for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law on the Taconic in the town of Gallatin.

The investigation found Owens had about 100 grams of cocaine and 5.5 grams of ecstasy.

He was arraigned in the Town of Claverack Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail.

Owens appeared in the Town of Gallatin Court Thursday.
