PA Man Killed In 3-Vehicle Thruway Crash
Two tractor-trailers and an SUV were involved in the collision.
NEWBURGH, NY — The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed Tuesday in a three-vehicle crash on the state Thruway.
The New York State Police said troopers were sent to an accident on Interstate 87 in the town of Newburgh around 3:30 p.m.
Authorities said the preliminary investigation found that a 2020 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Michael L. Guerra, 64, of Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, was traveling southbound when he struck a 1994 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Adam S. Tommell, 37, of Voorheesville, directly in the rear of the trailer.

Police said the Peterbilt tractor-trailer was then pushed forward and struck the rear of a 2018 Ford Explorer that was being driven by Darrin C. Stark, 52, of Landing, New Jersey.
Guerra was pronounced dead at the scene by the Orange County Medical Examiner. Police said no injuries were reported by Tommell, Stark or the three passengers in Stark's SUV.

Troopers from the Newburgh barracks were assisted at the scene by Troop F Collision Reconstruction Unit, Troop F Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Troop F BCI, Orange County Hazard Material, Orange Lake Fire Department, West Point Fire and Emergency Services, Winona Lake Fire Department and Quality Towing.
