Poughkeepsie City Employee Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The person works at the city's transfer station, officials said.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Poughkeepsie city officials said Friday that a Sanitation Department employee assigned to the city's transfer station tested positive for the new coronavirus.

The transfer station is closed, and Mayor Rob Rolison said anyone who brought materials to it between Tuesday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 4 should be on alert for symptoms and seek testing if symptoms begin to develop.

Because of this situation, residents may experience longer than normal collection times for the sanitation pick up next week.
