Poughkeepsie Man Accused Of Stealing SUV

Police said the man is facing two felony charges.

MIDDLETOWN, NY — A town of Poughkeepsie man was accused of stealing a car in Orange County.

The New York State Police said Todd Johnson, 41, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with third-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, felonies.

Police said, around 5:15 a.m. Thursday, troopers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from Stewart's Shops on Route 17M in the town of Goshen.

The stolen vehicle was a 2012 gray Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to authorities.

Troopers located and stopped the SUV short time later on Route 17M at a BP gas station in the town of Wawayanda.

Johnson was arraigned virtually in the City of Middletown Court and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of bail.

He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Goshen Court June 5.
