Poughkeepsie Mayor Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Mayor Rob Rolison wasn't feeling well last week and took a test for the virus, a spokesman said.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The mayor of Poughkeepsie has tested positive for the new coronavirus.

Mayor Rob Rolison said he wasn't feeling well last week. He stayed at home and got tested for the coronavirus infection, according to a city spokesman Monday.

The PCR nasal swab test was administered, and it returned from the lab with a positive reading.

Rolison said he was feeling fine, after a few days with aches, pains and a slight fever.

"The important message here is, if you are not feeling well, please stay home and help stop the spread of this virus," he said.

Rolison said he intends to work from home for the rest of the week and will follow health protocols. He hopes to to be able to return to City Hall next week.
