Poughkeepsie Police Rescue Ducklings From Storm Drain
The mother eventually showed up and led the baby ducks back home.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Poughkeepsie police rescued ducklings from a storm drain Monday and reunited them with their mother.
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department and an animal control officer were called about the situation and were sent to 52 Kingwood Park in the town to see if they could help, according to a Facebook post by the police department.
Officer Joe Lombardi found the ducklings but couldn't get to them because of the storm drain.

Members of the town's highway department arrived and removed several drain covers so Lombardi, Officer Jeff Sinclair and Animal Control Officer Cathy Edwards could scoop up the ducklings and get them to safety.
When the mission was accomplished, Edwards stayed with the baby ducks until their mother showed up and led them away.
