Rep. Antonio Delgado Leads In 19th Congressional District Race
He has a more than 7,000-vote lead over Republican challenger Kyle Van De Water, according to unofficial returns.

RHINEBECK, NY — First-term Democratic Rep. Antonio Delgado has claimed victory in his bid for re-election to the 19th Congressional District.
In a prepared statement, he said his constituents made their voices heard and the win is "a testament to his hard work and dedication to serving every constituent."
According to unofficial results at the state Board of Elections, with all districts reporting, Delgado, who lives in Rhinebeck, leads Republican challenger Kyle Van De Water, of Millbrook, by more than 7,000 votes.

Also on the ballot were Green Party candidate Steven Greenfield and Libertarian Party candidate Victoria Alexander.
Delgado said he expects his margin of victory will grow once absentee ballots are counted. He said there are about 60,000 absentee votes yet to be tallied, the majority of which — 51 percent — were cast by Democrats. About 22 percent were cast by Republicans.

Under New York law, mail-in ballots may be received up to seven days after the election — this year, Nov. 10 — as long as they are postmarked by Election Day.
Patch reached out to the Van De Water campaign for a comment but did not immediately receive a reply.
The 19th Congressional District is made up of Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan and Ulster counties and parts of Broome, Dutchess, Montgomery and Rensselaer counties.
