Police Respond To Report Of Possibly Armed Person At Mall
The Galleria at Crystal Run in Wallkill was locked down for a time Tuesday because of a report of a "suspicious person."

WALLKILL, NY — The Galleria at Crystal Run in Wallkill was locked down for part of Tuesday afternoon while police checked out a report of someone with a weapon.
Town of Wallkill Police Department Chief Robert C. Hertman said the report of a "suspicious person" was received shortly before 3 p.m.
When officers arrived at the mall, a witness said that she observed a man who was possibly armed with a gun walking in the mall parking lot.

A subsequent investigation found that there was no threat to the public at the mall, police said.
Around 4:30 p.m., police said on Facebook that the all-clear was given at the mall, and anyone who was locked down was asked to leave through the closest exit.

The Wallkill police were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Orange County Sheriff's Office, Village of Goshen Police Department and the City of Middletown Police Department.
Additional support was received from the Town of Wallkill Office of Emergency Management, Orange County OEM, Mobile Life Support Services, New York State Forest Rangers and multiple fire departments, including Mechanicstown, Bloomingburg, Circleville, Silverlake, Goshen, Montgomery, Washingtonville, city of Middletown and the Orange County fire coordinator.
