RPM Raceway Opens At Poughkeepsie Galleria

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A quarter-mile European-style racing track — RPM Raceway — held its grand opening Monday at the Poughkeepsie Galleria in the former K1 Speed space across from the Regal Galleria Mall Stadium 16. Also on site at the new business are a racing simulator and a state-of-the-art arcade.

Karen Davis-Farage and Eyal Farage own and operate the 30,000-square-foot facility and also have locations in Jersey City, New Jersey; Stamford, Connecticut; Syracuse; Farmingdale and Rochester.

Davis-Farage said indoor kart racing is one of the fastest growing forms of family entertainment in the country, and they made the decision to close their raceway in Buffalo and open in Poughkeepsie.

She said Dutchess County and the surrounding area have great growth potential.

"There are a lot of colleges, and the demographics are absolutely amazing," Davis-Farage said.

She also said that the Poughkeepsie Galleria was ideal for experiential activities.

"It really is an entertainment destination," Davis-Farage said.

The raceway can accommodate more than 150 people, and customers can enter a queue to race electric karts against each other or schedule races for groups of 10 or more. Children play against children and adults against adults.

There are VIP spaces for private parties, personal celebrations and corporate event rentals.

Adrenaline junkies can reach speeds up to 45 mph or more on the track, according to a company spokeswoman.

RPM Raceway has more than 20 more customer service and management-level employees.

Town of Poughkeepsie Supervisor Jon J. Baisley attended the grand opening ceremony but opted out of trying one of the go-karts.

"This really is filling a void," he said of the new business. "It certainly adds to making the mall a true destination."
