A Go Fund Me account was set up to help Guerra’s family through “these impossible days to come as we all prepare to say our final goodbyes.”
Set up by Ryan VanLieu, the fundraising effort hopes to raise $1,000. As of Thursday morning, $620 has been donated.
VanLieu wrote that Guerra was a legend, “and not just on the basketball court. Sure, he made basketball look easy whether it was shooting around with friends at the park or with hundreds of adoring fans watching his every move.
“But John truly made his impact off the court as it seems just about everyone who met him fell in love with the remarkable young man.”
