MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of the mid-Hudson Valley.

The watch from the National Weather Service is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

It applies to Columbia, Dutchess, Sullivan and Ulster counties.

Earlier Wednesday, the weather service said there was a slight risk of severe thunderstorms with scattered damaging wind gusts.

It said isolated hail and a tornado were also possible.

Additionally, there is an air quality alert in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for Dutchess and Ulster counties.
