Snow In Forecast Leads To Hazardous Weather Outlook For Mid-Hud

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Snow is in the forecast for some parts of the mid-Hudson Valley for the first day of April.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather forecast for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties.

Meteorologists said rain will mix with and change to snow across the Mohawk Valley by daybreak Thursday. Light snowfall amounts are possible.

However, there remains some uncertainly regarding the storm track and snowfall amounts.

Again, light snowfall amounts are possible, especially in higher elevations. And there is still uncertainty about where the storm will track and how much snow there will be.

Here is the forecast from the National Weather Service through Friday:

• Wednesday: Showers likely, mainly after 5pm. Cloudy, with a high near 61. South wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Wednesday Night: Rain. Low around 40. South wind 7 to 10 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.
• Thursday: Rain, mainly before 11am. High near 44. Northwest wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. Northwest wind around 10 mph.
• Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40. North wind around 11 mph.
• Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 25.
