State Police Issue 2,000 Tickets During Holiday Weekend
Almost 60 drivers who were impaired were removed from the roads, police said.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The New York State Police were out in force over the New Year's weekend issuing hundreds of tickets for speeding and removing almost 60 impaired motorists from the roads.
Troopers in Troop K, which covers Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia counties, issued 1,032 vehicle and traffic law violation tickets from 5 p.m. Thursday through 3 a.m. Monday.
According to a news release, the tickets issued were:

- Speeding violations: 503
- Distracted driving violations: 6
- Child restraint violations: 2
- Move over violations: 15
Twenty-one impaired motorists were removed from the roadways, police said.
In Troop F, which including Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, Ulster and Greene counties, troopers issued 978 vehicle and traffic law violation tickets from 5 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Monday.

According to a news release, the tickets issued were:
- Speeding violations: 250
- Distracted driving violations: 24
- Child restraint violations: 9
- Move over violations: 4
- Seatbelt violations: 32
Thirty-five impaired motorists were removed from the roadways, police said. Of those, 14 were charged with driving while intoxicated from New Year's Eve till New Year's Day.
Troopers also responded to 68 vehicle accidents in the valley west of the Hudson River, police said.
