Teacher, Firefighter Mourned In Wappingers

Julia Eurillo was a teacher in the Wappingers school district for 17 years.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY — A teacher who spent 17 years in the Wappingers district and 20 years as a volunteer firefighter died Monday morning, apparently of a heart attack. Julia Eurillo, 47, was a special ed teacher at Roy C. Ketcham High School, as well as the head cheerleading coach and track and field coach.

She had taught at John Jay High School previously, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

In a posting on the school district’s website, Eurillo was called a dedicated teacher who will be missed.

“Her passion and love for teaching were evident in everything she did,” the posting said. “Coach Jules, as she was often referred to, truly embodied the Ketcham spirit. No one loved RCK more than Jules!”

The New Hackensack Fire Company, where she volunteered and was a life member, paid tribute to Eurillo on its Facebook page.
