Victoria Perotti, the Amenia town supervisor, said they were fortunate no one was hurt.

"Unfortunately there were damaged homes and buildings," she said in an email to Patch. "The Amenia Fire Department and the Amenia Highway Department did an outstanding job handling all the issues. NYSEG did a great job sending crews as fast as they did and letting me know they were coming. As always Dutchess County Emergency Response assisted in many ways."
