Upstate Man Accused Of Drunken Driving On Thruway
Police said the man was found to have a blood alcohol content that was three times the legal limit.
NEWBURGH, NY — An upstate man was accused of driving on the Thruway while three times the legal limit for alcohol.
The New York State Police said Walter Connolly, 55, of Schenectady, was stopped on Interstate 87 shortly before 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the town of Newburgh for a traffic violation.
He was found to be intoxicated, police said.

Connolly was arrested and taken to the Newburgh barracks where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.24 percent, three times the legal limit.
He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

Connolly was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Newburgh Court Aug. 24.
