All Long Island DMV Offices Close Amid Coronavirus Concerns

All New York Department of Motor Vehicle offices have been closed until further notice. Road tests are also suspended for the time being.

NEW YORK — By executive order of Governor Andrew Cuomo, all Department of Motor Vehicle offices in New York are closed until further notice.

The New York State DMV announced the closure in a tweet Saturday night.

During the closure period, all in-office reservations, previously scheduled road tests and vehicle appointments will be canceled.

However, all licenses, non-driver IDs, and registrations with an expiration date of March 1, 2020, or later will be extended. Additionally, online transactions, including license renewals, are available on the New York Department of Motor Vehicles website.

The NY DMV provides the following categories for transactions that can still be done online without having to go to an office.

Effective on Sunday night at 8 p.m., all businesses in New York are directed by executive order to utilize any telecommuting or work from home procedures that they can utilize.
The number of coronavirus cases in New York reached 15,000 on Sunday, the highest state case load in the country.
