FCA Celebrates Long Island Nets Partnership
FCA Launched their 135 Days of Giving Campaign Earlier this Month

FCA, Mineola nonprofit, launched their 135 Days of Giving Campaign earlier this month. This initiative is based on the organization’s 135th anniversary and focuses on strengthening FCA’s programs that provide services and resources to Long Island's most vulnerable children, families, seniors, and communities. What started as the Temporary Home for Children orphanage, has evolved into a bi-county, multi-division organization serving over 30,000 individuals a year.
During the 135 Days of Giving, FCA will partner with corporations, schools and a variety of other community partners to convey what it means to care for those around us through acts of kindness, a helping hand, and donations, big and small. These contributions will materialize into countless opportunities for Long Islanders in need.
A young boy can head off to elementary school with a book bag full of school supplies and a nutritious lunch. A single mother can place her children in an FCA nursery program while she goes out and finds a job and resources for her family. An elderly community member can participate in the FCA Friendly Visitor program and receive respite from her isolation and loneliness. An adolescent can sleep in a warm bed tonight in an FCA Residential Services program instead of a cold park bench.

One such partner in this effort thus far has been the Long Island Nets. The Nets, in partnership with Pink Tie, have donated $3,500 to the campaign, along with 135 tickets to the team’s upcoming game on March 4 at NYCB LIVE, Home of the Nassau Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum. FCA clients and their families will be in attendance, proudly cheering on their favorite hometown basketball team.
Don Holden, FCA Corporate & Individual Giving Officer, stated, “We couldn’t be more thankful for the support and generosity of the Nets and Pink Tie. We look forward to collaborating on many future endeavors in order to improve the quality of life for our Long Island families, friends and communities in need. Our clients look up to this team and their players, and we can’t wait to come out and cheer them on next week!”

“The Long Island Nets are proud to participate in FCA’s 135 Days of Giving campaign,” said Alton Byrd, Long Island Nets Vice President of Business Operations. “We are dedicated to giving back to the community and assisting in any areas possible, especially when it comes to the education of our local youth. FCA’s mission to protect and strengthen Long Island’s most vulnerable children, families, seniors and communities is one that we fully support and offer our hand in assistance in its vision of a Long Island where a legacy of optimal health, educational success and economic security passes from one generation to the next.”
"The mission of Pink Tie is to benefit and support charitable organizations that make a difference in our own community," said Pink Tie Founder Mike Cave. "FCA is one of the longest established organizations on Long Island that reaches out to a wide population of our most vulnerable children, families and seniors. Pink Tie is proud to support a group that has been focused on helping those most in need on Long Island for over a century."
All proceeds from the 135 Days of Giving Campaign will help to enhance FCA’s programs and services for Long Island’s most vulnerable children, families, seniors and communities.
