1 Rescued From Nassau House Fire

ALBERTSON, NY — One woman was rescued from a house fire in Albertson, which destroyed much of the building.

According to police, a fire broke out at a home on Solar Lane around 1:30 p.m. Officer Robert Simon arrived on the scene and entered the front door of the home. Inside, he saw a disoriented woman standing in the living room, which was fully engulfed in flames.

Simon ran to the woman and carried her outside to safety. Thanks to Simon's quick action, she was uninjured.

The Albertson, Mineola and Williston Park fire departments responded to the scene with 10 trucks and 40 firefighters and put out the blaze. No one was injured, and no one else was in the home at the time the fire started.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
