Flood Advisory Issued For Nassau County
BREAKING: A special weather statement has also been issued as heavy rain and gusty winds approach the region.
A flood advisory is in effect in Nassau County until 1:30 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service says.
At 10:34 a.m., doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause minor flooding. Rain rates at times will be up to 1 to 1.5 inches per hour. Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
A special weather statement has also been issued for southern Nassau. Winds in excess of 35 mph are possible as a line of showers moves through, the NWS says.
