- Children ages 5 to 11 are approved to get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, and Long Island parents can now schedule appointments starting Saturday, Nov. 6 at Walgreens and Sunday, Nov. 7 at CVS. Vaccine side effects for children have been shown to be mild in clinical trials and similar to those for adults, the most common one being a sore arm. (Mineola Patch)
- Melinda and John Alford have provided full hot Thanksgiving dinners to homebound seniors and fixings for families in need to make their own Thanksgiving dinners since 1996. The first five years were coordinated from the Mineola bar/restaurant they owned, JB's Pub. Since 2001, the Alford's have coordinated this effort from their home, and now more than ever they need your support. (Mineola American)
- The 27th annual edition of Rob's Run, a 5-kilometer cross county race, will be held on Nov. 28 at Stillwell Woods Park in Syosset. Mineola law firm Lynne Gartner Dunne LLP is returning as primary sponsor of the race, which honors Oyster Bay's Robert Lauterborn, a longtime runner who died of an epileptic seizure at age 28.
