LI Weather: Hot Temps, Thunderstorms, Hazardous Weather Outlook

Expect some temperamental weather for the rest of the week.

Long Island residents can expect some temperamental weather for the rest of the week, along with a hazardous weather outlook on Wednesday.

Get ready for some hot weather mixed with thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures could reach up to 90 degrees, so dress accordingly. But also bring your poncho because nearly every day has a chance of thunderstorms.

Here’s what the NWS says the next few days will looks like:

  • Wednesday— Sunny, with a high near 88. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.
  • Wednesday Night— Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light after midnight.
  • Thursday— A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Light south wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning.
  • Thursday Night— A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light after midnight.
  • Friday— A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Light and variable wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.
  • Friday Night— A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.
  • Saturday— A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 79.
  • Saturday Night— A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69.
  • Sunday— Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
  • Sunday Night— Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.

A hazardous weather outlook was also issued for southeastern Suffolk County and southern Nassau County for Wednesday. This alert mainly pertains to people who will be at the beach.
