Mineola Named Third Best Place to Start a Business in New York
New rankings put several Long Island communities in the top places for starting a business in the state.

Mineola is the third best place to start a business in New York State, according to new rankings released Monday by NerdWallet.
The site analyzed data from the U.S. Census Bureau to rank the business climate and economic health of 83 New York communities. NerdWallet restricted its analysis to areas with populations above 5,000.

According to NerdWallet:
Mineola, a village in Nassau County, is nicknamed the “Friendly Village.” There are more than 17 businesses per 100 people in Mineola, one of the highest ratios on our top 10 list. Mineola is about 30 miles from New York City and has a station on the Long Island Rail Road. The Mineola Chamber of Commerce serves the businesses of the village. The chamber also organizes the annual Mineola Fair, which attracts up to 10,000 people.

The top 10 communities were:
1. Suffern
2. Garden City
3. Mineola
4. Glens Falls
5. Harrison
6. White Plains
7. Ithaca
8. Rockville Centre
9. Mount Kisco
10. Watertown
Other Long Island communities with high rankings included Patchogue, Lynbrook, Glen Cove, Floral Park, Lindenhurst, Valley Stream, and Long Beach. Read the full report here.
