Mineola Students Collect Valentines For Vets

The Mineola Union Free School District recently took part in Valentines for Vets by collecting handmade cards and gifts for veterans.

MINEOLA, NY — Students from the Mineola Union Free School District recently took part in Valentines for Vets by crafting Valentine’s Day-themed cards and collecting gifts to be given to veterans.

Students, staff and community members throughout the district gathered items, including gift cards, toiletries, socks, sweatshirts and sweatpants, and paired them with handmade Valentine’s Days cards. Assemblyman Ed Ra and Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti collected the items for distribution to Veterans Affairs hospitals and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts across Long Island.
