Long Island's March Against Anti-Semitism: PHOTOS
"We must work together to stand up to anti-Semitism, bigotry and hatred," Sen. Chuck Schumer said.

MINEOLA, NY — Thousands of Long Islanders joined local officials, religious leaders and other community advocates to march against anti-Semitism. More than 2,500 people attended Sunday’s march.
The march was launched after recent rise in anti-Semitic incidents in Long Island and the surrounding areas, including swastika graffiti which showed up outside a Holocaust center and a vulgar attack in Costco.
Laura Curran, the county executive, said the community will not be silent or complacent while facing what she called a "horrifying rise" in anti-Semitic attacks.

“We organized this march to send a clear message in one voice: Long Islanders of all faiths and backgrounds stand united with our Jewish community and against Anti-Semitism,” Curran said.
In December, Nassau and Suffolk Counties formed a bi-county coalition that will identify and develop a plan of action to combat and report acts of hate and bias incidents on Long Island. In conjunction with a number of organizations, today’s march marked one of the task force’s inaugural initiatives.

Assemblymember Charles D. Lavine headlined the event alongside Curran.
“Anti-Semitism is plague in our society and hate against any and all groups of people is a
problem for our society” Lavine said.
