Nassau’s New Vaccine Registration System To Feature Waiting List
The waiting list feature will "alleviate the hassle of going on a wild goose chase for a vaccine," Nassau Co. Executive Laura Curran said.

MINEOLA, NY — Nassau County expects to have a streamlined vaccination registration system, with the ability to place residents on a waiting list, finalized early in the coming week, County Executive Laura Curran announced Sunday in a news release.
The county’s Internet Technology team has been working on streamlining the registration system and the new waiting list feature will “alleviate the hassle of going on a wild goose chase for a vaccine,” Curran said.
Curran made the announcement a day ahead of New York State opening vaccine eligibility to people with comorbidities, or underlying health issues such as cancer, heart, lung, and autoimmune diseases, saying the county “stands ready to get doses into arms.”

The county will be partnering with various community partners, including Federally Qualified Health Clinics, which will help reach “vulnerable populations in our hardest hit communities,” she said, adding that it was a “priority for her administration.”
The county is continuing to explore additional partnerships to build up its vaccination operation, and it will prioritize allocating a portion of its weekly supply to vaccinate the new group, she said.

“We have not wasted one dose at our Nassau County Department of Health vaccination centers, and we will continue to swiftly use 100% of the doses we receive,” she added.
The county opened a new vaccination site on Friday in a partnership with Long Island University Post’s School of Health Professions and Nursing. The site joins Nassau Community College in Garden City and the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury. The sites did not have any appointments available as of Sunday afternoon, but, according to the county’s website dedicated to COVID-19 resources, links will be posted once there are openings.
