MINEOLA, NY — NYU Winthrop Hospital in Mineola seeks a new name, pending approval from state health officials.

The hospital wants to change its name to NYU Langone Hospital — Long Island, NYU Langone Health said a news release Monday. Signs with the new name were expected to be installed at the hospital Monday, a spokeswoman for the hospital told Patch in an email.

Through the collaboration, the hospital also has:

  • A new vaccine center testing site on Long Island, aimed at breakthroughs in areas such as COVID-19
