Parts of Nassau County Watching For Heavy Rain

An area of moderate to heavy rain is moving north.

Parts of Nassau County are watching for heavy rain.

The leading edge of an area of moderate to locally heavy rain, 11 miles south of Long Beach was moving north at 25 miles per hour around 4:55 p.m., according to the NWS.

Locations impacted include Oyster Bay, Long Beach, Garden City, Lynnbrook, Hempstead, Mineola, Syosset and Great Neck.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for southern Nassau County. An area of heavy showers was over Long Beach around 5:26 p.m. and is moving north at 20 miles per hour. Winds in excess of 30 miles per hour are possible with these showers.
