Sorry, Moms: Miserable Weekend Weather Ahead

If you have outdoor plans for Mother's Day Sunday, you may want to try to move them indoors. There's a 50 percent chance of rain all day and temperatures won't make it out of the mid-50s on Long Island, the National Weather Service says.

There's a slight chance of thunderstorms the rest of Friday, but there is no threat for any severe storms. A cold front pushing offshore Friday night will bring an end to any showers and isolated storms.

Saturday will certainly be the better day of the weekend with mostly sunny skies and a high near 65 degrees.

Saturday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. Northwest wind 9 to 13 mph.

Saturday Night- A 30 percent chance of rain after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming northeast after midnight.

Sunday- A 50 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. East wind 13 to 15 mph.

Sunday Night- Rain likely. Cloudy, with a low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
