Students In High Gear For Mock Presentations
AP students are working in teams to research a contemporary problem facing the world today.

AP Capstone students of the Carle Place Middle-High School were split up across the school on Oct. 22 to practice their mock presentations in preparation for Performance Task One, which is a synthesis of research, presentational speaking, rhetoric and persuasion. For this, students work in a team to research a contemporary problem facing the world today.

Scholars in three classes, including one SWS class (remote learning), are developing presentations with viable solutions for issues such as human trafficking, rising alcoholism, abortion, immigration and the coronavirus. All topics were selected by the students themselves.
They are learning how to research, write, validate and question sources, and speak publicly. Their discussions are both engaging and enlightening, and the skills they are using improve daily.
