MINEOLA, NY — A new, upscale, 192-apartment home community has opened in downtown Mineola. Conveniently located near the Long Island Rail Road train station, Modera Metro Mineola held its grand opening Thursday evening. Mayor Scott Strauss joined executives from Mill Creek Residential and other leaders from the Long Island business community to unveil the high-end units.

The new apartments aim to provide attractive, luxury residences for working professionals and empty-nesters. Available apartments include studios and one- and two-bedroom homes. Rents begin at $2,295 and can reach up to $3,875 for the largest two-bedroom homes.

Developers said each apartment has curated, elegant interiors with ceilings stretching at least 9 feet. Living areas feature wood-plank style flooring while bedrooms offer plush carpet. Kitches are equipped with stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, custom 42-inch soft-close cabinets, tile backsplash and moveable islands. Furthermore, bathrooms boast quartz countertops and soaking tubs with tile surrounds.

"Mineola launched a significant effort to transform the village and its downtown years ago, taking advantage of its substantial workforce and convenient transit to become a true live-work-play destination," Strauss said. "Mill Creek has played an integral part in driving new residents to the village in the middle of all Mineola has to offer – with proximity to numerous offices, government buildings, restaurants, shops, and cultural offerings."

Some of the homes have a walk-in closet and several feature a balcony with courtyard views. Higher-end units even come with fireplaces, high-gloss cabinets and more. All homes are equipped with key fob entry technology.

The units are located near the recently expanded Winthrop Hospital, as well as numerous office buildings and several government buildings. Mineola is also a 40-minute train ride to Manhattan for LIRR commuters.

"Mill Creek identified a need to provide well-appointed housing to serve Nassau County’s robust workforce, who are looking for a unique living experience in a diverse, walkable destination," Russell Tepper, senior managing director of Mill Creek’s Northeast division, said. "Modera Metro Mineola provides residents with ease of commuting to New York City, in a desirable suburban setting where they don’t need to sacrifice urban amenities such as walkability to shops and restaurants."
