Firefighters Race To Save Victims In Mock Drill: Photos

A new rescue truck was part of the drill in Montauk.

MONTAUK, NY — Thankfully, it wasn't an actual blaze that brought the Montauk Fire Department racing to Flying Point Surf Boutique and Montauk Bake Shoppe in the Village on Monday.

Instead, Montauk Fire Department members participated in a "Back to Basics" ladder rescue drill, where one fireman "victim" suffered a heart attack and needed CPR, and another "victim" fell from the ladder and broke his femur.

Under the direction of MFD 1st Assistant Chief David Ryan, everything went perfectly; the drill gave the new Rescue 2 truck a chance to practice on the job. As always, MFD Fire Police Company No. 6 kept the area secure.
