Man Caught With Stolen Jeep, Metal Knuckles In Hamptons: Cops

The stolen Jeep was valued at $12,000, police say.

MONTAUK, NY — A Brooklyn man was cuffed in East Hampton after he was caught with a stolen vehicle — and with metal knuckles in his pocket, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Michael J. Patterson, 61, was arrested in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Montauk Highway in Montauk on April 24 at 9:51 p.m.

Patterson, was found with a stolen Jeep valued at $12,000 and was arrested and charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property: motor vehicle, not motorcycle, a felony, police said. He was also charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a firearm/weapon, a misdemeanor, after he was found with metal knuckles in his front right pocket, which he presented when asked if he had any weapons, police said.

He was released into the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, police said.
