Man Charged With Felony DWI: Cops

He had two prior DWI convictions, police say.

MONTAUK, NY — A Montauk man was charged with felony DWI, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Kevin Becker, 30, was arrested on Oct. 5 at 1:03 a.m. on Montauk Highway near South Edison St. in Montauk after he was seen driving east in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado and failing to keep right.

Upon investigation, he was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet; he also performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests, police said. After an intoxilyzer 9000 test, he was found to have a .08 percent BAC, police said.

Becker has two previous convictions for driving while intoxicated; he was charged with operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent or more alcohol, two prior convictions of designated offense within 10 years, a felony, and DWI, two prior convictions of designated offense within 10 years, a felony, police said.

He was released into the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, police said.
